My husband and I are considering a Round the World trip on one of the Bank Line ships.  We are not sure whether the full journey is a good idea or whether it would be better to split it up into two segments - possibly UK to NZ and NZ to UK or UK to Singapore and then Singapore to UK.

Has anyone actually done this journey?   How do the ships compare with other lines?

Absolutely any and all advice will be much appreciated.

Bank Line has a good reputation and caters to passengers more than other Lines. I would break up the trip and see some of the area. More interesting to meet new folks rather than a long time on one ship.

My wife and I recently returned from a Round the World trip on the Rickmers line so we cannot comment on the Bank line.  However, if anyone out there is considering such a trip you "may" be  interested in reading the journal we kept.  It is located at http://carleli.livejournal.com   Please note that there is no "WWW" and the "http://" must be typed in.  I might also point out that this was a cargo ship which tend to have longer times in port than a container ship. As many have mentioned before, this type of travel is not for everyone but for the right kind of personality it is truly awsome.  To also experience the flavor of such a trip you may want to take at look at some of our pictures.   http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlelitz/sets/72157605594966220/

Enjoy!

I heard that Bank Line has discontinued passenger service.
