Vancouver B.c To Taiwan

I would like to travel to Taiwan, and return, sometime in 1906 or very early 1907. Vancouver would be a great departure point because most of my family live there. Free lodging!! I was wondering if anyone had made this particular trip. Also wondering about the best time of year. I know that the North pacific can get a bit bumpy in certain seasons. I don't think that I'd be seasick but I'd just as soon not tangle with 100 foot waves, no matter what deck I was standing on. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Travel dates may be a problem - you'll need a time machine for that :-)
As for avoiding rough weather - the typhoon season in the South China sea extends from April to December - so avoiding that is a good idea if possible.
Also, it would help if you book a passage on the largest container ships - the bigger the ship, the smoother the ride - and don't worry too much about it, satellite weather systems allow ships to steer a course around the really bad stuff.

Thanks Steve, for the reply. The dates you suggest are very helpful. It's not that I'm really afraid of bad weather....I know that shipping companies won't deliberately endanger their vessels... but I imagine that I'd like to spend a lot of time outside, so good weather would be nice. I'm retired so exact dates are not really a problem. I would like to stay in Taiwan for a week or two before returning. So, I guess that the next step is to start contacting agents and see what I can work out. Thanks again. Doral
