My husband and I were considering a trip on one of the Star Clipper sailing ships, but he gets seasick easily and doesn't want to be popping pills (or using suppositories!) for the whole voyage. If anyone has had experience on both standard freighters and large sailing ships, can you let me know if there is significantly more movement on the latter both in calm weather and rough seas? If my sea captain father were still alive he would be able to tell me, but alas he is gone and I rely on you good people to tell me!  Smiley Thank you.

For sure there is more movement on a sailing vessel. If you have concerns about seasickness look at the ship's size, and weather in the particular season and area you wish to travel.

I only registered with this interesting site a matter of minutes ago and am in the process of 'surfing' the forums. In doing so, I can't help being amused that - in response to a question about sea-sickness - it was suggested that 'there is more movement on a sailing ship'. Well, that's a relief - in every sense of the word.
