Charter to South America

Hi!
I want to go from Europe to South America - but not on a regular freight trip. That seems to be way more expensive than what I have budgeted. And my initial idea was to charter on a ship anyway - I am not interested in the trip being a holiday. I am going to Bolivia later on to do research for a project anyway and thought it might be interesting to "feel" the distance and get an idea of that sort of travel and work.
So far, I have only been able to find the possibility of chartering, if you want to have a regular job with one of the companies.
PLEASE DOES ANYONE HAVE ADVICE FOR ME HOW TO CHARTER ON A FREIGHTER (from Europe to South America).
I should also point out that I am female and 30 years old - to give you an idea of what kind of work I would be able to do (or not to do). Female, but not the princess-type...
Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't know what you mean by wanting to "charter." There are freighters from Europe to South America and cruise ships that are positioning. If you are wanting to work on board it is not likely you'd find anything. On cruise ships for example, you must train and sign a contract.
