Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and am thinking about doing a trip on a freighter one day soon, it seems like a pretty adventurous way to cruise the world so I'm looking forward to receiving any advice anyone might have for me on the matter.

I'd like to know if there are any members of the forum who actually work on a freighter? If you do, how many years have you been working on freighters and what different places have you travelled to around the world doing your job?

Thanks and have a good one!

Mitch

Are there not any members of this forum who work on freighters, if not, we should try and get some because I think it would give the forum an insight into the work that people do on the freighters.

You can't 'work a passage' anymore - it's impossible I'm afraid.

Hi Steve,

I wasn't talking about working a passage. I was just interested to know if there are any people who work on Freighters for a living and are members of this group. I take it there is usually a full crew on each freighter? I wanted to know where they have been around the world while they were working. Having actual freighter workers as members on the forum would enhance it alot as other members interested in travelling etc would be able to ask them more specific questions.

Thanks for the reply anyway Steve!

Sorry - I misunderstood your question.

I get asked about 'working a passage' so often, I jumped to the wrong conclusion :-)

I don't think we have any crew members in the forum - if we do, they are not posting.
