Internet & Phone access on board?

I'm hoping someone who has travelled on a freighter can answer this one for me;

- On board the freighters, do they have internet access at all and any kind of phone access(satellite etc)? It might be a silly question but I'm gonna ask it anyway! :-)

Freighters all have satellite phones. The cost averages $2 per minute. Also they have internet, but usually limited (no attachments). No searching the internet etc. in most cases. There is a cost for this as well.

I have seen a great deal of the world by cargo ship. Parts of Africa and India are yet to come.
